Helsinki Senate Square Light Pole Design Competition
Helsinki Senate Square Light Pole Design Competition

Winning proposal in the design competition for a new street light organised by the City of Helsinki. The new poles were required to incorporate both road and façade lighting and to support tram cables. As they were to be installed in Senate Square — one of the most significant public spaces in the city centre — the proposal kept the pole as clean and slender as possible when seen in profile, so as not to interrupt views of the historic facades. The proposal was awarded third prize.
